About Us: Since 1973, the Westgate Child Center has been committed to providing high quality education and child care in the DC metropolitan area. As a non-profit organization, the center is licensed by both Fairfax County and the Commonwealth of Virginia to provide full time and before and after school care for children ages 2.5 to 12 years old. |
Our Philosophy:
Through carefully planned play-based activities and thematic units of study, our programs focus on each child's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs in a stimulating yet warm and caring environment. Our center maintains an excellent child - teacher ratio of 6:1 during structured learning hours . We are proud of our low child-teacher ratio, which enables our trained professional teachers to focus on the individual needs and talents of each child.
Westgate also boasts a long tenured staff, with average tenure of our teachers being over 10 years. Westgate Child Center does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, gender, disability, or national/ethnic origin. We are non-sectarian, non-profit, private, independent, and nondiscriminatory. We believe in equal education, attention and care for all children without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, or disability.
Our Preschool Programs:
Westgate’s full day preschool programs are divided by age into three classrooms based on age and the child's birthday, Preschool 1 and Pre-K. Each classroom is brightly decorated and organized into different activity centers and filled with educational, age-appropriate toys and materials within reach of children. Our preschool curriculum also includes fun and educational field trips throughout the year that are planned to match the seasonal themes and lesson plans (Pumpkin Patch trip in the fall, etc.) Parents are encouraged to participate in our fun field trips! Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are provided each day, per the USDA recommended nutrition program.
We are very proud to offer Hi MaMa to our currently enrolled parents. Through this app the teachers can send you pictures of your child playing, let you know what they have eaten for the day as well as send you emails about up coming events. You as a parent can email the teachers directly about any pertinent information as well as communicate your child's absence for the day.
New this year- We are now able to take credit and debit card payments using the HiMaMa app. You can also view your statement every month and even print off your tax information.
